Meet the Team Behind Perkinz
Based in Dunedin, NZ, with a warehouse in Melbourne, Australia, Perkinz is a proudly local company built on decades of real farming and sheep-handling experience. Every product we design reflects that hands-on knowledge; practical, rugged, and made to make your life easier.
We’re a small team, but we punch above our weight. And if you’re wondering who’s behind all the innovation, here’s a look at the characters driving it all.
Wayne – Founder & Sheep Whisperer
Wayne’s deep understanding of sheep handling comes from years on the tools. The CrutchMaster, DrenchMaster and ShearMaster were all born out of real on-farm needs. He says he’s “not quite as stupid as he looks” and with a growing product range and loyal customer base across NZ and Australia, he might just be right. Steve – Solar Water Guru
Steve’s the brains behind our solar water pumps. He claims to be smarter than he looks too and judging by how well his systems are solving on-farm water issues, we’d say he’s earned it. That said, with his wife Derval running the show quietly in the background, we suspect she’s the real powerhouse.
Dave – Design Wizard
Turning Wayne and Steve’s wild ideas into real, functional products isn’t easy but Dave makes it happen. He’s the designer behind the gear, and reckons he deserves a medal for putting up with the chaos. Honestly, we agree.
Nick – Manufacturing Maestro
Nick owns EB Engineering in Dunedin, where all our gear is built. He’s either running the laser cutter, wrangling production, or keeping Wayne and Dave from strangling each other. Ask him about the lambing rate on his hobby farm but be prepared for a yarn about pigs too.
Mieka – The Backbone of the Business
Mieka keeps the wheels turning — accounts, logistics, admin, you name it. She was too busy for the team photo (story of her life), juggling three young kids and what she claims might still become a professional football career. Either way, she’s the glue that holds Perkinz together.
